Robert Vincent Furey

Robert Vincent Furey, 62, of 153 Notch Road died Sunday morning at North Adams Regional Hospital after a long illness. Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 11, 1940, son of Howard V. and Geraldine Davis Furey, he attended schools in Cheshire and Adams. He had served in the Navy and in the Naval Reserve. Mr. Furey was a self-employed plumber and heating contractor for many years, retiring in 2002 because of ill health. He also had served as superintendent of the Cheshire Water Department for four years. He was a member of Berkshire Union Chapel in Lanesboro. He also was a member of the Cheshire Rod and Gun Club and the Cheshire VFW. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He and his wife, the former Patricia A. Wabnig, were married March 10, 1960, at First Baptist Church. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Kimberly A. Furey of Cheshire; a brother, the Rev. William D. Furey of Pittsfield, pastor of Berkshire Union Chapel, and a sister, Carol A. Francesconi of Cheshire. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Robert V. Furey, 62, who died May 4, 2003, will be tomorrow, Wednesday, at 11 at Berkshire Union Chapel with his brother, the Rev. William D. Furey, pastor, officiating. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Berkshire Union Chapel in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, which is handling arrangements. Mr. Furey was predeceased by his beloved grandmother, Linnie M. Harrison, who died in 1965.
