Nickie E. Mintz

Nickie E. Mintz, 59, of Park Lane died Tuesday morning at Fairview Commons in Great Barrington, where she had resided for two months. Born in Norfolk, Conn., on Oct. 5, 1943, daughter of Pat and Beatrice Balsamo DiCaprio, she attended schools there. She moved to Sheffield in the 1960s. Mrs. Mintz was primarily a homemaker. After the death of her husband, William E. Mintz, she managed his business, Canaan (Conn.) Tire Co., until its sale. Earlier, she had worked at Becton Dickinson in Canaan. An avid golfer, she was a member of the Wyantenuck Country Club and its Ladies’ Night League. She enjoyed gardening, lawn work and going antiquing. Her husband, whom she married June 3, 1967, in Norfolk, died Feb. 22, 1991. She leaves a stepson, Del Mintz of South Heidelburg, Pa.; two sisters, Anna Bowles of Winsted, Conn., and Jeannie Vernalli of Glastonbury, Conn., and two stepgrandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Nickie Mintz will be celebrated Saturday, May 17, at 10 at Immaculate Conception Church in Norfolk, Conn., by the Rev. John Ahern, pastor. Burial will follow in Sheffield Center Cemetery. The family will receive friends tomorrow, Friday, from 4 to 7 at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sheffield Fire Department through the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. She also leaves two grandchildren, Zoe and Cal Mintz; three nephews, Francesco, William and Thomas, and two nieces, Deborah and Fabiola.
