Giacobbie 'Jake' Dellea, 91
SHEFFIELD, Mass. — Giacobbie "Jake" Dellea, 91, of South Undermountain Road died Tuesday morning, June 10, 2003, at Fairview Commons in Great Barrington, where he had resided for two years.
Born in Great Barrington on Aug. 18, 1911, son of Natale V. and Mary Dellea Dellea, he attended the former Seekonk School, a one-room schoolhouse on Seekonk Cross Road, and the former Bryant School.
Mr. Dellea was a caretaker for the Bartholomew homestead from 1980 to 2001. He began working in 1956 on the former dairy farm for the late Edward "Ned" and Cecil Bartholomew and then took care of the young livestock after the dairy farm closed.
He first worked for various contractors, including Magadini Construction Co. and Cook & Ross in Winsted, Conn.
He leaves three nephews, Louis A. Rossi of Alford, Jacob Rossi of Pittsfield and Harry Hughes of South Egremont; his longtime friends and employers, Dana and Beth Bartholomew of Sheffield.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Francis, Natale and Charles Dellea, and by his sister, Katina Hughes.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Services for Mr. Dellea will be Wednesday, June 11, at 11 at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 9:30 until the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fairview Commons Activities Fund or to the Southern Berkshire Volunteer Ambulance Squad through the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
