Billie Jo Caruso

Billie Jo Caruso, 38, of 618 North Eagle St. died Saturday at North Adams Regional Hospital after being stricken earlier at home. Born in North Adams on Jan. 27, 1965, daughter of James Angelo DeMaroney Sr. and Louise Elsie Ackhart DeMaroney, she attended schools in Roxbury, N.Y., and graduated from Roxbury Central School, where she was active in the band and was selected each year to play clarinet as an all-state musician. She studied histology at the State University of New York at Cobleskill. She returned to North Adams in 1994 and had recently moved to Clarksburg. When she was younger, she worked for Shaw’s Farm in Middlebury, N.Y. She attended First United Methodist Church, and enjoyed reading, environmental studies and science. She donated her time for many charities and nonprofit organizations, including the ASPCA and the National Wildlife Federation. She leaves her longtime companion, Everett “Bud” Sherman Jr.; two daughters, Maria Nicole Caruso, at home, and Toni Louise Caruso of North Adams; a son, Joseph John Caruso, at home; two sisters, Robin Dent of Watertown, N.Y., and Bobbie-Jo Presti-Reifenrath of Summit, N.Y.; two brothers, Stephen DeMaroney Sr. of Summit and Army Sgt. James A. DeMaroney Jr. of Milford, Kan., and a grandson. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Billie Jo Caruso will conducted tomorrow, June 12, at 7 p.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 4 until the time of the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for her children’s education through the funeral home. Survivors include her daughter Toni Louise Caruso’s fiancé, Paul J. Baker; a grandson, Aron James Baker of North Adams, and an expected grandchild; nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and her dog, Nitro.
