Grace Marcil

Grace Marcil, 90, of 176 Columbia St. died Monday at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Woonsocket, R.I., on July 6, 1912, daughter of Adelard and Olivine Salva Lincourt, she attended schools there. She moved to North Adams in 1930 and to Adams in 1965. Mrs. Marcil and her husband, Antonio Marcil, had operated the Catholic Gift Shop on Columbia Street until selling it in 1983. She also was employed for 12 years by the former Wall-Streeter Shoe Co. in North Adams, retiring in 1975. Prior to that, she worked for the former Hoosac Cotton Mills for several years and as a weaver in the former Greylock Mills for 25 years, both in North Adams. She was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas and a member of the Ladies of St. Anne. She also was Third Order Carmelite. Her husband, whom she married May 15, 1965, died January 21, 1982. She leaves nieces and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Grace Marcil will be celebrated Thursday, June 12, at 10 in Notre Dame Church in Adams by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas Aquinas. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours at TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, will be Thursday from 8:30 until the time of the service. Donations in her memory can be made to the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas’ or to St. Jude’s Hospital through the funeral home.
