Nellie W. Kaczka

Nellie W. Kaczka, 89, formerly of 34 Powers St., died Saturday afternoon at Sweet Brook Care Center in Williamstown. Born in Adams on Dec. 8, 1913, daughter of Henry and Blanche Dabrowski Banas, she attended schools there. Mrs. Kaczka was employed by the former Jarisch Paper Box Co. in North Adams until her retirement. Earlier, she had worked at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates and at the former Sprague Electric Co. and Hunter Outdoor Products, both in North Adams. She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus’ Church and a member of St. Michael’s Society. Her husband, Theodore J. Kaczka, whom she married May 20, 1939, died Feb. 24, 1994. She leaves a daughter, Katherine St. Germain of Adams; a sister, Mary Leja of Adams; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Another daughter, Joanne Kuzia, died Nov. 9, 2001. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Nellie Banas Kaczka will be Wednesday, June 18, at 11:30 at AUGÉ-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at noon in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Parishes of St. Stanislaus’ and Notre Dame-St. Thomas Aquinas, Adams. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 10:30 until 11:30 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus’ Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice through the funeral home. She also leaves five grandchildren, Richard and Ronald St. Germain and Wayne and Craig Kuzia, all of Adams, and Cheryl Kuzia of Santa Monica, Calif.; five great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph, Albert and Edward Banas, and a sister, Stacia Wilusz.
