Laura H. Duryea

Laura H. Duryea, 83, of Tyrell Road died yesterday at home. Born in Copake, N.Y., on Feb. 27, 1920, daughter of Avery and Ina Vosburgh Hawver, she attended schools there. She worked for many years as a housekeeper. Mrs. Duryea was a member of the former Copake American Legion. She enjoyed bird watching, playing checkers and dominoes with her grandchildren and listening to the radio, especially the Trading Post on WSBS on Saturday mornings. Her husband, Frederick E. Duryea, whom she married Nov. 19, 1949, died June 16, 1993. She leaves a daughter, Nancy L. Duryea of South Egremont; four sons, Frederick E. Duryea Jr. and James R. Duryea, both of South Egremont, Dale Duryea of Monterey and Roger Duryea of New Marlboro; a brother, Phillip Hawver of Rosendale, N.Y., and eight grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Laura H. Duryea, who died Sunday, June 22, 2003, will be conducted Wednesday, June 25, at 11 at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Art Kaufman. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, North Egremont. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations in Laura’s memory may be made to Our Kids Inc. or to the South Egremont Fire Department, c/o Birches-Roy Funeral Home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. She was predeceased by three brothers, Keith, Cliff and Floyd Hawver. She leaves her grandchildren, Timmy Hathaway, and Sarah, Jaime, Leticia, James Jr., Penny, Ray and Jason Duryea.
