Arthur Richard MacNeil II

Arthur Richard MacNeil II, 65, of Hillsdale Road, South Egremont, died Wednesday at home. Born on Aug. 4, 1937, in Sharon, Conn., son of Lewis and Minni Phoebe Potter MacNeil, he attended schools in Falls Village and Canaan, Conn. For most of his life, Mr. MacNeil was employed as a truck driver for firms such as Watacret, Berkshire Engineering, Green River Lumber, Budweiser and Hitchcock Brothers. He also worked at the Barrett Saw Mill in Egremont, on several farms in the Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts areas, and as a mechanic. He leaves his former wife of 26 years, Joanne Gop MacNeil of Great Barrington, whom he married June 20, 1959, in St. Peter’s Church in Great Barrington; a son, Arthur Richard MacNeil III of Elsburg, Wash.; three daughters, Terri Lynn MacNeil of Springerville, Ariz., Rebecca Ann MacNeil of Great Barrington and Bonnie Joe Dupont of Housatonic; three sisters, Mary Hall of North Carolina, Ruth MacNeil of Florida and Louise MacNeil of Illinois; two brothers, Collin Douglas MacNeil of Florida and Corky MacNeil of Georgia, six grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A service celebrating the life of Arthur Richard MacNeil will be held at a later date to be announced. There will be no calling hours. Survivors include his grandchildren, Amberlyn and Rose MacNeil, Tom Alan and Elyssa Murray Johnson, P.J. and Anica Leigh Pond, and Austen Taylor Dupont and a grandchild on the way; a great-granddaughter, Emmalynn Lauren MacNeil; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Minerva MacNeil and Lois Loverin, and two brothers, Michael MacNeil and Neil Ernest MacNeil.
