William Comeau

William Comeau, 78, died Thursday at the home of his cousin and caregiver, Margaret Comeau of 31 North Summer St. Born in Adams on Sept. 2, 1924, the son of René and Rachael Rowe Comeau, he attended Adams schools. He joined the Marine Corps on Oct. 8, 1941, and served as an aircraft mechanic in the Pacific theater. He also served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired as a master sergeant after 23 years of service. He received several campaign medals. Mr. Comeau was employed by Petricca Construction Co. in Pittsfield, retiring in 1986. Before that, he worked for the former R. Comeau Trucking Co. in Adams for several years. He was a communicant of the parishes of Notre Dame-St. Thomas and a member of Adams Post 160 American Legion and the Maple Grove Civic Club. His wife, the former Shirley Ann Perrier, whom he married May 10, 1968, died March 17, 1972. Besides his cousin, he leaves a sister, Isabel Evans of the state of Florida. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for William Comeau will be Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at 9 from TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Thomas’ Church, with the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of Notre Dame, St. Thomas and St. Stanislaus churches, officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery at a later date at the convenience of the family. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 7 to 9. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. His brother, Paul Comeau, is deceased.
