Anthony John Romaniak

Anthony John Romaniak, 79, of 7 Grant St. died yesterday at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown, where he had resided for several months. Born in Adams on May 2, 1924, son of John and Antonia Zelazo Romaniak, he was a 1943 graduate of the former Adams High School. A Navy veteran of World War II, he served in the Pacific theater as a radioman third class. Mr. Romaniak was a laboratory technician for 27 years at the former Pfizer Inc., now Specialty Minerals. He retired in 1985. He also operated a catering business for private parties for many years. He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus’ Church and a member and past commander of American Legion Post 160. He enjoyed golf, cooking and playing poker. He and his wife, the former Florence E. Zabek, were married Sept. 6, 1948. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Nancy J. Solari of Clarksburg; two sons, Gary A. Romaniak of Bend, Ore., and Terry J. Romaniak of Maynard, and six grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Anthony John Romaniak will be tomorrow, Aug. 4, at 9:15 at AUGÉ-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 8 to 9:15 a.m. Survivors include Mr. Romaniak’s six grandchildren, Trent Solari of North Adams, Casi Solari of Natick, Mende and Evan Romaniak, both of Bend, Ore., Eric Romaniak of Maynard and Adam Romaniak of Longmeadow, and several nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be made to the Davis Wing Patient Activities Fund at Sweet Brook Care Centers through the funeral home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, MA 01220.
