Ann Rowland Macy

Ann Rowland Macy, 78, of Bow Wow Road died yesterday at home after a long illness. Born in Sheffield on July 6, 1925, daughter of Ernest B. and Jane Rowland Leach, she was a 1944 graduate of the former Sheffield Center School and a 1947 graduate of Albany Hospital School of Radiological Technology. Mrs. Macy was employed by the former Warren & Macchi Contractors and had been the bookkeeper for the former Macy’s Garage until retiring in 1987. She also worked for several years for the New York state Department of Health. She was a former longtime board member of the Sheffield Council on Aging, and a member of AARP Chapter 48, the Thursday Morning Club and the Red Cross Blood Bank. She volunteered at the former VNA Thrift Shop. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Valley Church and a member of the Catholic Women’s Club. She had many hobbies in crafts, including quilting and knitting, and collected dolls. She leaves her husband, R. Philip Macy, whom she married Dec. 20, 1950, at Christ Church; two sons, David DeVoe Macy of Sheffield and Daniel Philip Macy of Glen Echo, Md.; a sister, Eleanor Curtis of Sheffield, and three grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Ann Leach Macy of Sheffield will be celebrated Tuesday, Aug. 5, at 11 at Our Lady of the Valley Church by the Rev. John Lis, pastor. Burial will follow in Sheffield Center Cemetery. The family will receive friends tomorrow from 4 to 7 at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME. She also leaves three grandchildren, Jason, Hilary and Philip Manuel Macy, and her daughters-in-law, Nancy Macy of Sheffield and Constance Rojas Macy of Glen Echo, Md.
