Ursula Mae Marceau

Ursula Mae Marceau, 89, of 3A Village East died Wednesday at North Adams Regional Hospital, where she was admitted Saturday. Born in North Adams on Sept. 22, 1913, daughter of Adelor and Anna Kelly Counter, she was a 1931 graduate of the former St. Joseph’s High School. She was last employed as a secretary for 25 years at the former Sprague Electric Co., retiring in 1955. Earlier, she had worked at the former Grand Store. She was a communicant of St. Francis’ Church. She was a member of the Sprague Electric Retirees and Quarter Century clubs and the Senior Citizens and the Jollee Circle clubs. She was also a member of the LeCercle Francais Club, where she had served as chaplain and secretary. Her husband, Harvey A. Marceau, whom she married in 1933, died Nov. 30, 1986. She leaves a son, Colburn H. “Colby” Marceau of Mission Viejo, Calif., four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Ursula Mae Counter Marceau will take place Friday at 1:15 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 2 at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from noon to 1:30 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for the St. Francis’ Church Building Fund through the funeral home. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Barbara Roberts Marceau; four grandchildren, Laurie Glass, Lynne Berry, Leigh Bassler and Layne Marceau; 12 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.
