Florence A. DiLego, 77

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Florence Ann DiLego, 77, of 495 Church St. died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, at North Adams Regional Hospital, where she was admitted July 29 following a short illness. Born in North Adams on April 27, 1926, daughter of Edward Francis and Anna T. Dawson Douglas, she was educated in local schools, including the former St. Joseph's High School. Mrs. DiLego was last employed in the delicatessen department of Price Chopper for 17 years, retiring in 1997. She had also worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. and the former Cornish Wire Co. in Williamstown. She was a communicant of the former St. Francis and St. Anthony's churches. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Massachusetts National Guard of North Adams. She and her husband of 51 years, John Joseph DiLego Jr. were married Dec. 21, 1952, in St. Francis' Church. Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, John Joseph DiLego III of North Adams and Edward Francis DiLego of Homossasa, Fla.; four daughters, Therese Roy, JoAnne DiLego-Cowlin and Patricia Roberts, all of North Adams, and Linda Lee DiLego of Cheshire; four sisters, Ellen Monette of Norfolk, Va., and Marion Chamberlain, Jane Lapine and Frances Sebastino, all of North Adams, and eight grandchildren, Jake DiLego, Jesse DiLego, Michael DiLego, Lindsey DiLego, Shane Roberts, Tyler Roberts, Stacey Harklerode and Cheyenne Lefave. She was predeceased by brothers Merton Douglas and William Douglas. FUNERAL NOTICE — Services for Florence A. (Douglas) DiLego will take place Monday, Aug. 11, at 8:15 from the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will follow in the family plot at Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday, Aug. 10, from 4 to 8. Flowers may be sent or memorial donations are suggested for any charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247.
