Mary Burke Jayne

Mary Burke Jayne, 84, of 1393 South State St. died Thursday at North Adams Regional Hospital, where she had been admitted Tuesday. Born in North Adams on Feb. 13, 1919, daughter of Newton and Elizabeth Burke Beauregard, she was a 1938 graduate of Drury High School. Primarily a homemaker, she was last employed by the former Fischlein Meat Market for a short time. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of North Adams. Her husband, Stewart Irwin Jayne, whom she married July 26, 1943, died Feb. 28, 1972. She leaves her cousin and caregiver, Jean Brustle of Cheshire. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Mary B. Jayne will take place Monday, Aug. 11, at 11 at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels. Burial will follow in the family plot at Southview Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations are suggested for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) through the funeral home, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247. Survivors include her cousin and caregiver, Jean Brustle of Cheshire, sister-in-law, Ruth Jayne of Williamstown, and longtime friend from childhood, Jeffrey Thompson.
