Rosa E. McBride, 94
OTIS, Mass. — Rosa E. "Annie" McBride, 94, of 66 Broad St., Westfield, formerly of East Otis, died Tuesday at the Governor's Center in Westfield.
She was the town clerk of Otis from 1980 until retiring in 1991.
Born in East Otis on Feb. 26, 1909, daughter of Arthur and Eva Snow Humason, she attended East Otis School and graduated from Lee High School. She had been a resident of Westfield since 1998 and had formerly lived on Main Street.
She moved to Winsted, Conn., in the 1920s and graduated from Winsted Hospital as an licensed practical nurse.
After her graduation, Mrs. McBride returned to the Berkshire area and worked as a private-duty nurse. In 1960, she moved back to Otis, where she continued to work as a private-duty nurse.
She also helped her sister, the late Ida Hall, in the operation of Hall's General Store in East Otis for many years.
She was a member of Order of Eastern Star in Pittsfield.
Her husband, Thomas P. McBride, died in September 1979. Her son, John Trank, died in October 1999.
She leaves three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; her nephew, Donald A. Chaffee Sr. of East Otis and her niece Marion Rood of New York; her grandniece, Melissa Mestre, and her grandnephews, Ashley, Christopher, Donald, Clayton and Leslie Chaffee.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. McBride will be held Saturday, Aug. 23, at 10 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee. Burial will follow in the Otis Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Friday from 4 to 6.
