Lawrence Howard Kickery Sr., 71, of 32 Hurley Drive died yesterday morning at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 14, 1932, son of Catherine Shaw Kickery of Pittsfield and the late Merdick Kickery, he attended local schools. He was employed by the city of Pittsfield Water Department as a backhoe operator for 20 years, retiring in 1989. Before his employment with the Pittsfield Water Department, he worked for the former Dalton Woolen Mill. He enjoyed fishing and gardening, and had a greenhouse for several years. His wife, the former Ethel M. Thomas, whom he married July 1, 1960, died Jan. 6. Besides his mother, he leaves two sons, Lawrence H. Kickery Jr. of Pittsfield and William E. Kickery of Rochester, N.Y.; a daughter, Doris A. Wood of Pittsfield; two granddaughters and two great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Lawrence H. Kickery Sr., who died Thursday, Aug. 28, is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Penny (Mrs. Lawrence) Kickery. Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 30, at 1 at the DERY FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Carol K. Towley officiating. Burial will follow in the Cemetery of the Evergreens in New Lebanon, N.Y. Calling hours will be today, Friday, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Elder Services of Berkshire County in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. He also leaves several brothers and sisters.
