George Francis Moore

George Francis Moore, 76, of 41 Navajo Drive died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Branchville, N.J., on Aug. 2, 1927, son of George H. and Bertha Williams Moore, he attended schools there. He was last employed by the Brown Packaging Co. in Adams, retiring in 1991. He first worked at Anken Chemical Co. in New Jersey and then, in the late 1960s, transferred to the former Anken Chemical plant in Williamstown. While a resident of New Jersey, he was a member of the Elks Club. An accomplished musician, in his younger years he was a drummer for a local band. While in North Adams, he was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 310 for a short time. He enjoyed playing pool and was an avid Yankees fan. He and his wife, the former Rose Marie Decoteau, were married Oct. 21, 1973 in Williamstown. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Richard Moore of Bethlehem, Pa., and Keith Moore of Sussex, N.J.; a daughter, Debra Kelly of Warwick, N.Y.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services to celebrate the life of George Francis Moore will take place Saturday at 1 at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., with the Rev. Joseph H. DeCosta, pastor of the First Baptist Church of North Adams, officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Saturday from 11 to 1 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire and the Adult Day Care Center through the funeral home. He was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Eberle, who died March 11, 1995.
