Charles James Copeland

Charles James Copeland, 55, of 8 Castagnaro Way, Blackstone, a native of North Adams, died yesterday at Milford Hospital in Milford. Born in North Adams on Dec. 10, 1947, son of James and Lena Champagne Copeland, he attended the former St. Joseph’s Elementary School and was a 1966 graduate of the former St. Joseph’s High School. He attended the Andover School of Business in 1968 and graduated from the former St. Joseph’s College in Bennington, Vt., in 1969. Mr. Copeland had been a resident of Blackstone for 23 years and was employed for 18 years as a planner with B.A.E. Systems Inc., an aerospace-defense contractor in Lexington. He leaves his wife, the former Jacqueline A. Roberts, whom he married on Feb. 7, 1970; a sister, Carol J. O’Brien of North Adams, and a brother, Robert D. Copeland of Cheshire. A daugher, Elise Marie Copeland, died in infancy. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 9:15 from the AUGÉ-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in Our Lady of Mercy Shrine. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Monday from 5 to 8. Survivors include several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in his memory be made to the American Heart Association through the funeral home, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247.
