Charles Thomas “Chuck” Pankosky

Charles Thomas “Chuck” Pankosky, 69, of 303 Shore Ponds Road and 183 Connecticut Ave., Greenwich, Conn., died Sunday at his home in Greenwich. Born in Greenwich on Feb. 24, 1934, son of Charles and Anne Pitel Pankosky, he graduated from Greenwich High School and the University of Connecticut in 1960 with a bachelor’s degree. He and his family spent summers in Becket for 33 years. A Navy veteran, he was stationed in Florida. Mr. Pankosky retired as a senior buyer with J.C. Penney Co., where he started its “outward bound” program, then did consulting work. He later worked at Greenwich Hardware Co. He was an accomplished woodworker and an avid golfer and fisherman. He leaves his wife, the former Joan Ziac, whom he married on June 16, 1960; two sons, Jay Pankosky of New Canaan, Conn., and Christopher Pankosky of Germantown, Md.; three sisters, Carol Grasso of Ridgefield, Conn., Elizabeth Morton of Columbus, Ohio, and Barbara Pankosky of Vernon, Conn., and four grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Charles Thomas Pankosky Jr. will be held Thursday at 11 at LEO P. GALLAGHER & SON FUNERAL HOME, 31 Arch St., Greenwich. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5 to 8 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Greenwich Hospital Hospice Care, in care of the Develoopment Office, 5 Perryridge Road, Greenwich, CT 06830.
