Wilma T. Brown

Wilma T. Brown, 83, of Lynn died Monday at Salem Hospital in Salem. She was a former longtime resident of Pittsfield. Born in Longmeadow on Aug. 27, 1920, daughter of Sidney S. and Louise T. Gerich Grant, she grew up in Springfield and Pitts-field, and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1937. She most recently was district sales manager for Avon Products Inc. in Lynn for 12 years. Before that, she worked as a medical secretary for a doctor in Lynn. While in Pittsfield, she worked for radio station WBEC and Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. She was a former member of St. Paul's Methodist Church, Lynn, where she was chairwoman of the Rodney Circle, and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Lynn, where she served as a trustee. For 12 years, she was a volunteer for AARP in Lynn, providing tax services for retirees. She leaves her husband of 53 years, Rodney F. Brown of Lynn; one son, R. David Brown of Providence, R.I.; three daughters, Ann-Louise Jones of Marshfield, Jacqueline Sylvia and Stephanie Doherty, both of Auburn, N.H.; one sister, Shirley Leidt of Woronoco, and 10 grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A funeral service for Wilma T. Brown will be held on Thursday at 11:30 in the SOLIMINE, LANDERGAN & RHODES FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway, Route 129, Lynn, followed by burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Visiting hours at the funeral home are Wednesday from 6 to 9. Please omit flowers. Donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Brown was predeceased by her sister, Arlene Rouisseaux.
