Thomas J. Anello

Thomas J. Anello, 66, of 432 North East Topaz Terrace, Jensen Beach, Fla., formerly of North Adams, died Friday at Lawnwood Medical Center in Fort Pierce, Fla., following a brief illness. Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 7, 1937, son of Francesco and Crocifissa DiFillipo Anello, he attended Pittsfield schools. He had resided in North Adams for more than 40 years, including for many years at 59 Arnold Place, before recently moving to Jensen Beach. Mr. Anello was employed as a machinist by GE in Pittsfield for more than 30 years, until retiring several years ago. He was a communicant of St. Francis' Church and a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs and the Lebanese Social Club, and a member and past trustee of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 487. He and his wife, the former Dolores Cecelia Shakar, celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary July 7. They were married in St. Francis' Church. Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Michelle DeGrenier of New York state and Lisa Spofford of the state of Florida; two sisters, Elizabeth Yansak of Pittsfield and Concetta Hart of Dalton; six brothers, Samuel Anello, Joseph Anello, Anthony Anello, all of Pittsfield, James Anello of Cheshire, John Anello of Sheffield and Frank Anello of Cape Canaveral, Fla., and three grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Thomas J. Anello, who died Dec. 19, 2003, will be celebrated Saturday, Dec. 27, at 11 at St. Francis of Assisi Church. FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., is in charge of local arrangements. A Liturgy of Christian Burial also will take place Monday, Dec. 22, at St. Martin De Porres Church in Jensen Beach, Fla. Visitation will be Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 at Aycock Funeral Home, 950 N.E. Jensen Beach Blvd., Jensen, Fla. Survivors include three grandchildren, Sydney Spofford, Samantha Spofford and Justin DeGrenier, and a son-in-law, Daniel Spofford. He was predeceased by a brother, Dominic Anello.
