Martin H. Glynn

Martin H. Glynn, 86, of Route 23, Craryville, N.Y., died Saturday afternoon at the Community House at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, N.Y. He was the stepfather of Charlotte Owens of Sheffield. Born in Craryville on Feb. 17, 1917, son of William H. and Rose B. Clark Glynn, he was a 1936 graduate of Roeliff-Jansen High School. He served in the Army Air Force from 1942 to 1946. Mr. Glynn had been employed as a rural mail carrier by the Craryville post office from 1946 until his retirement in 1974. He was a 70-year member of the Craryville Fire Company, a 25-year member of the Copake (N.Y.) Grange and a longtime member of the Rural Mail Carriers' Association. He enjoyed politics, travel and the company of friends at the Senior Center/Nutrition Site at St. Bridget's Church in Copake Falls, N.Y. His first wife, the former Phyllis Padalaskie, whom he married Sept. 15, 1963, died in 1978. He and his wife, the former Elsie Goddard, were married Aug. 2, 1981, in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Hudson. Besides his wife and stepdaughter, he leaves another stepdaughter, Marjorie Schutz of Yonkers, N.Y.; a sister, Edna Braig of Hillsdale, N.Y., five step-grandchildren, and a step-great-grandchild. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Mass of Christian Burial for Martin H. Glynn will be celebrated Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at 9:30 at St. Bridget's Roman Catholic Church in Copake Falls by the Rev. Joseph Falletta, pastor. Friends are invited and may call on Friday from 4 to 7 at PECK AND PECK FUNERAL HOME, Route 22, Copake, N.Y. Interment will be in Cedar Park Cemetery, Hudson, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider the Community Hospice of Columbia-Greene, 47 Liberty St., Catskill, NY 12414. He was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters.
