Clare M. Stever

Clare M. Stever, 92, of St. Joseph's Court, North Eagle Street, died Wednesday afternoon at Williamstown Commons, where she had resided since 2001. Born in Worthington on Dec. 16, 1911, daughter of William H. and Eliza Green Briggs, she came to Adams as a child and first resided in the former Susan B. Anthony homestead. She attended local schools. She was last employed by Hunter Outdoor Products, retiring in 1976. She had also worked for the former Sprague Electric Co. until 1941 and the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Co. She had also lived in Connecticut following her schooling and worked for Remington Arms Corp. Mrs. Stever was a member of the North Adams Methodist Church and a former member of the Methodist Church of Adams. She was also a member of the Jolly Circle Club and the Adams Legion Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary. She and her husband, William E. Stever, were married July 16, 1934. She leaves a son, David A. Stever of North Adams, and four grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A funeral service for Clare M. Stever will be commemorated on Monday, Jan. 5, at 2 in the MCBRIDE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Liberty St., Adams, with Pastor Susan Stewart, pastor of the First Methodist Church of North Adams, officiating. A visitation period for family and friends will occur on Monday from 1 to 2 at the funeral home, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the charity of the donor's choice. She leaves her daughter-in-law, Donna, and four grandchildren, Erik and Tyler Stever and Adrian and Aaron Williams, all of North Adams.
