Rose Delima Champagne

Rose Delima Champagne, 86, of 50 Mohawk Forest Blvd. died Saturday at North Adams Commons, where she was admitted Feb. 27, 2003. Born in North Adams on Feb. 13, 1917, daughter of Felix and Delima Lanier Bachand, she attended the former Notre Dame Elementary School. Mrs. Champagne was employed by the former Waverly Fabrics Co. in Adams for eight years, retiring in 1982. She also worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. and the former Wall-Streeter Shoe Co. She was a communicant of Notre Dame Church. Her husband, Wilfred J. Champagne, whom she married Jan. 23, 1937, died Dec. 27, 1996. She leaves a daughter, Therese Lewis, with whom she made her home; two grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. A son, Wilfred J. Champagne Jr., and a daughter, Mary Champagne, predeceased her. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Rose Bachand Champagne will be Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at 10:15 from AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, North Adams, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 4 to 8 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests Masses in her memory or donations to a charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247. She leaves two grandchildren, Vincent R. Barrett of North Adams and John W. Barrett of Grover Beach, Calif. She also was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters.
