Clement J. Rafferty

Clement J. Rafferty, 94, of 216 Pleasant St., Housatonic, died Saturday at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington. Born in Housatonic on March 18, 1909, son of Patrick and Bridget Gallagher Rafferty, he was a 1928 graduate of the former Searles High School. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a staff sergeant and received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star medal. A golf professional, Mr. Rafferty formerly worked at Wyantenuck Country Club and, during the winter months, worked in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He was a communicant of Corpus Christi Church. His wife, the former Helen Foley, whom he married June 10, 1944, in Corpus Christi Church, died Nov. 15, 2000. He leaves his caregiver, Nancy O'Grady of Housatonic, and several nieces. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Clement J. Rafferty, who died Jan. 24, 2004, will be conducted Tuesday, Jan. 27, at 10 at Corpus Christi Church by the Rev. Anthony Jutt, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Bridget's Cemetery. The family will receive friends today, Monday, from 3 to 5 at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME. Expressions of sympathy in Clement's memory may be made to the Corpus Christi Building Fund or to Laurel Lake Assisted Living, c/o the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
