Ruth M. Rowley

Ruth M. Rowley, 92, of 220 Cold Spring Road died Wednesday, Jan. 28, at the Great Barrington Rehab and Nursing Center in Great Barrington. Born in Otis on Jan. 29, 1911, daughter of Chester W. and Ida May Bliven Hall Snow, she lived on Larkcom Hill on Reservoir Road and walked to Cold Spring School for her eight years of schooling. Primarily a homemaker, she worked part time at the Otis Ridge Ski Camp and Camp Hak-Me-Tac, also in Otis. At age 16, she began working at Hawley Farm in Sandisfield. She enjoyed crocheting, flowers, cooking and making latch hook rugs. Her husband, William H. Rowley, whom she married Oct. 12, 1931, died in November 1989. She leaves a son, Frank H. Rowley of Otis; three daughters, Mary E. Shalley of Great Barrington, Nancy R. Loring of West Otis and Thelma M. Kennedy of Otis; two brothers, Chester B. Snow and Lawrence E. Snow, both of Otis; two sisters, Edith E. Lewis and Ida E. Strickland, both of Otis; eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Ruth M. Rowley will be Saturday, Jan. 31, at 3 at the KELLY FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Bert Marshall, pastor of First Congregational Church of Lee, officiating. Burial will be in the spring at the Otis Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Saturday from 1 until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to the Otis or Sandisfield Ambulance Squad in care of the funeral home.
