Albert A. Jennings

Albert A. Jennings, 86, of 3 Myrtle St. died Friday at Westfield Hospital. Born in North Adams on Jan. 28, 1918, son of Patrick and Cleo Rondeau Jennings, he attended schools there. He was a member of the National Guard in Adams for nine years, and in 1944 joined the Army, serving in Europe. He was discharged after the war with the rank of staff sergeant. Mr. Jennings worked for many years for the Adams-Cheshire Regional School District as a custodian, retiring in 1981. Before that, he worked for GE in Pittsfield, the former Sprague Electric Co. and the former Windsor Mill in North Adams. He was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas, and a former member of the Adams Lodge of Elks and American Legion Post 160. His first wife, the former Irene Menard, is deceased. His second wife, the former Alma R. Boulerice, whom he married June 30, 1947, died July 10, 1990. He and his wife, the former Cora Witherell, were married May 30, 1992. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Michael Jennings of West Lebanon, N.Y.; a daughter, June Witherell of Anahuc, Texas; four stepsons, Bruce Witherell and Gary Witherell, both of Cheshire, Francis Witherell of North Adams and Robert Witherell of Clarksburg; two stepdaughters, Susan LeBeau and Lisa Hannaleck, both of Adams; four grandchildren; 15 stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and six step-great-grandchildren. A son, James Jennings, is deceased. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Albert A. Jennings, who died Jan. 30, 2004, will be Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 9 from TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Thomas' Church celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Parishes of Notre Dame-St. Thomas and of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 4 to 7. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Barbara Jennings of Clifton Park, N.Y., and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Jennings was predeceased by three brothers, William, John and Lawrence Jennings, and by four sisters, Betty Cary, Catherine Sharron, Della Bursaw and Helen Netzel.
