Joseph H. Foote, 85
ADAMS, Mass. — Joseph Henry "Harry" Foote, 85, of 159 Durkee Road, Cleveland, Tenn., died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at his home following about two months of failing health.
He was a former longtime resident of 208 East Road, Adams, before moving to Tennessee in 1987.
Born in North Adams on April 22, 1918, son of Ernest and Lillian Lea Lagess Foote, he attended schools in North Adams and trained in heavy equipment operation with the Civilian Conservation Corps in the Berkshire County area.
With the outbreak of World War II, he entered the Army and served with Company A of the Army Corps of Engineers in the European Theater of Operations.
Following his honorable discharge, he was employed as a heavy equipment operator by Stracuzzi Construction Corp. of Pittsfield for more than 40 years until his retirement in 1987.
Mr. Foote was a communicant of St. Therese's Church in Cleveland and a former communicant of Notre Dame Church in Adams. He was a member of the Dr. George L. Curran Post 996 Veterans of Foreign Wars in North Adams.
His first wife, the former Helen Krzeminski, died April 6, 1972.
He leaves his wife, the former Jeanne Martel Koza, whom he married Aug. 30, 1974, in St. Mary's Church in Cheshire; two stepdaughters and their spouses, Donna and Joseph Kwasnicki and Nancy and Albert A. "Skip" Griswold Jr., all of Cleveland, Tenn.; three stepsons and their spouses, Michael and Karen Koza of Northboro, John and Jana Koza of Cheshire, Robert and Donna Koza of Southbridge; three sisters, Evelyn Krzeminski of Adams, Lucille LaBombard of North Adams and Jeannette Rondeau of Stamford, Vt., 14 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by sister, Blanche Lagess, and brothers, Ernest Foote, William Foote and Bernard Foote.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Graveside committal services and burial for Mr. Foote will take place Friday, Feb. 20, at the Krzeminski family plot in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams, at 11. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, are Thursday, Feb. 19, from 5 to 8.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for Bradley Memorial Home & Hospice of Cleveland, Tenn., through the funeral home.
