Richard T. "Stitch" Stachura

Richard T. "Stitch" Stachura, 66, of 16 Dubis St. died Friday at his home. Born in Adams on Jan. 2, 1938, son of Theodore and Irene Styczynski Stachura, he attended St. Stanislaus Elementary School and graduated from the former Adams High School in 1958. He served in the National Guard for 22 years, having joined in 1961. He worked for GE as a fabricator from 1970 to 1991, when he retired. Before that he worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams. He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus' Church and an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed camping. He was a member of the Adams Hound and Hunt Club, the Maple Grove Civic Club and the Adams Lodge of Elks 1335. He was also a member and trustee of the East Hoosac Athletic Association. He leaves his wife, the former Caroline O'Keefe, whom he married Oct. 11, 1997; one son, Theodore Stachura of Adams; one daughter, Donna Marie Stachura of Adams; one stepdaughter, Kathy Bergeron of Adams; two stepsons, William O'Keefe of Redding, Conn., and Kevin O'Keefe of North Adams; one sister, Margaret Martin of Adams, and 10 grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Richard T. "Stitch" Stachura, who died April 16, 2004, will be Monday, April 19, at 9 from the TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Stanislaus' Church. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus' Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday from 5 to 8. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home. Survivors include two nieces, Doreen Baumgartner and Darlene Martin.
