Josephine Wondrasch

Josephine Wondrasch, 84, of Freedom Square Retirement Community, Seminole, Fla., died April 9 its nursing center. She had been a summer resident of Monterey for more than 50 years, with a home overlooking Lake Garfield. Born in New York City on April 2, 1920, daughter of Guilio and Teresa Ansaldi Mensi, she was educated there. She had lived in Parkchester, Bronx and Scarsdale, N.Y. She had been spent winters in St. Petersburg, Fla., for 20 years. Mrs. Wondrasch was employed as an executive secretary at Schildwachter Oil Co. in New York City until her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Peter's Church in Great Barrington. She enjoyed gardening, especially growing roses. She volunteered with the Veterans Affairs chaplaincy in Florida and was active in the Freedom Square community association. Her husband, Joseph Wondrasch, whom she married Sept. 26, 1942, died July 25, 1998. She leaves a son, Paul J. Wondrasch of Bridgewater, N.J., a sister, Enes Grassis of Monterey, two grandsons and a great-granddaughter. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Josephine Wondrasch, who died April 9, 2004, will be conducted Monday, April 26, at 10 at St. Peter's Church, Great Barrington, by the Rev. Daniel Papineau, MIC. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 25, from 2 to 5 at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME. Expressions of sympathy in Josephine's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Associationin care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. She also leaves her grandsons, Michael and Kevin, and her great-granddaughter, Anabelle Wondrasch.
