Richard M. Hunsicker

Richard M. Hunsicker, 59, of Mandalay Road died Monday evening at home after a long illness. Born in Jersey City, N.J., on Sept. 11, 1944, son of Earl and Martha Green Hunsicker, he attended schools there graduated from Snyder High School. He earned his bachelor's of science degree in mathematics from Wagner College on Staten Island, N.Y. He moved to the Berkshires in 1972. Mr. Hunsicker taught math at Lenox Memorial High School. He was active in the sports program, coaching junior varsity tennis and boys' basketball, and varsity golf and girls' softball. He also was director of intramural sports and site director for the high school basketball games. He had first been a math teacher and a varsity boys' basketball coach at Lyndhurst (N.J.) High School. He was a member of the Greenock country Club. He leaves his wife, the former Judy Young, whom he married in 1969; a son, Rod J. Hunsicker of Franklin; a daughter, Lea J. Macchi of Wrentham; two brothers, Kenneth Hunsicker of Lyndhurst and Earl Hunsicker of Voorhees, N.J., and two granddaughters. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Richard M. Hunsicker, who died April 26, 2004, will be Friday, April 30, at 5 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee. Visiting hours will be Friday from 2 until time of the service. Cremation will follow. Friends wishing may make donations to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238. Mr. Hunsicker most enjoyed his time with his two granddaughters, Annie and Molly Macchi. He was predeceased by a sister, Lorraine Johnson, and a brother, Donald Hunsicker.
