Selma Gertrude Tanguay

Selma Gertrude Tanguay, 83, of 35 Enterprise St. died Tuesday at North Adams Regional Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Olbersdorf, Germany, on March 4, 1921, daughter of Hermann and Augusta Moser Ernst, she attended the Olbersdorf schools and moved to the United States in February 1952. When she came to the Berkshires, she worked at Aladco in Adams, where she was employed for 33 years, retiring in 1984. In Germany, she was a nanny and a maid for private families. Her husband, Ernest I. Tanguay, whom she married June 29, 1955, in North Adams, died June 13, 1992. She was a member of St. Mark's Church. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A graveside service for Selma Gertrude Tanguay, who died May 5, 2004, will be Friday, May 7, at 10 in the family plot in Bellevue Cemetery. The service will be given by the Rev. Michael McCue, rector of St. Mark's Church. The calling hours will be private, for the family only, on Friday from 9 until time for the service. McBRIDE FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include her niece, Nancy Brown of Cheshire, and her nephew, Erhardt Ernst of Petersweig, Germany. She was predeceased by four brothers, Paul, William, Gustave and Walter Ernst, and three sisters, Marguerita, Ida and Elizabeth Ernst.
