Ida May Stevens

Ida May Stevens, 80, of 23 Bay State Road died yesterday morning at Berkshire Medical Center following a brief illness. Born in Dalton on Feb. 26, 1924, daughter of Sidney S. and Florence G. Crow Scott, she attended schools there. Primarily a homemaker, she began working in 1992 after the death of her husband. She had been employed at Joanne Fabrics, Wal-Mart and, most recently, at Stop & Shop Supermarket. Mrs. Stevens was a member of First Congregational Church of Windsor and United Methodist Church of Dalton. She enjoyed playing cards, sewing, baking and traveling. Her husband, William A. Stevens, whom she married Nov. 2, 1940, died June 8, 1992. She leaves three daughters, Patricia Larson of Windsor, Geraldine Galliher of Becket and Virginia Discoe of Pittsfield; two brothers, Samuel Scott of Dalton and Joseph Madison of North Fort Meyers, Fla., 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Ida May Stevens, age 80, died May 13, 2004. She is also survived by her sons-in-law, Eric Larson, Stephen Galliher and Noel Discoe. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Levi Davenport, pastor of the First Congregational Church of Windsor, officiating. Burial will follow in Hilltop Cemetery in Windsor. Calling hours will be today, Friday, from 7 to 9 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Windsor Fire Department in care of the funeral home.
