Robert Lorenzini

Robert A. Lorenzini, 83, of 3506 Hancock Road died at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. an engineer and the holder of many patents, he had resided in Hancock for the past 31 years, moving from Westport, Conn. Born in New Haven, Conn., on July 18, 1917, son of Bruno and Angiolina Asor Lorenzini, he attended Hill House schools and graduated from Yale University in 1938 with a bachelor's degree, and in 1940 from Yale with a master's degree in engineering. He also completed graduate level courses at Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute, Stevens Institute of Technology, New York University and Northeastern University. He held a number of patents relating to steam generation, heat exchange and manufacturing processes, and was a registered professional engineer. He was formerly senior vice president and director at Foster Wheeler Corp., and a group vice president at Capital Goods Operations Midland-Ross Corp. He retired from Foster Wheeler in 1969 after 29 years of service. He was a fellow at the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and a trustee for Clarkson College of Technology. Mr. Lorenzini founded the Sounds of Woodwinds Corp., located in Hancock, in the early 1980s. He held eight patents relating to accessories for woodwind instruments. Many of his clients are well known in the music industry and he sold his products worldwide. He leaves his wife of 28 years, the former Marion A. Jibblets, whom he married June 23, 1973; two daughters, and two sons, from a previous marriage; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be tomorrow, Thursday, April 19, at 8:15 from the DWYER FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 in St. Mark's Church. Entombment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Mausoleum at St. Joseph's Cemetery at a later date. Calling hours will be today, Wednesday, April 18, from 4 to 7 at the Dwyer Funeral Home. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to St. Marks's Church in care of the Dwyer Funeral Home.
