Genevieve Sarkis

Genevieve Sarkis, 77, of St. Joseph's Court died Tuesday at North Adams Commons. Born in North Adams on Nov. 4, 1926, daughter of Anthony and Maskina Stevens Morin, she attended local schools, including the former Haskins School. Mrs. Sarkis was employed by the former Hunter Outdoor Products, and for many years at the former Sprague Electric Co. She was a communicant of St. Francis' Church. She and her husband, Michael P. Sarkis Sr., were married July 2, 1949. Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Michael P. Sarkis Jr. and Steven A. Sarkis, both of North Adams, three grandchildren, and a great-grandson. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A celebration of the life of Genevieve Morin Sarkis, who died May 25, 2004, will be conducted today, May 27, at 1 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., by the Rev. Robert Moulton, deacon of the Parishes of Notre Dame-St. Thomas' and St. Stanislaus, Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today from 11 to 1. Memorial donations are suggested for the Eileen Barrett Foundation through the funeral home. Survivors include her daughters-in-law Anne and Pauline; grandchildren Michelle Patricia Sarkis, Misty Sarkis and Tracy Sarkis Bassette; a great-grandson, Seth Sarkis-Handberry, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, Michael Edward Sarkis, on Dec. 25, 1996; a brother, Nave Morin, and four sisters, Florence LeFebvre, Martha Sarkis, Jeannette Sarkis and Nellie Hewitt. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
