Doris E. Neveu

Doris E. Neveu of 3 Forest Park Ext. died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital after a brief illness Born in Springfield on July 1, 1921, daughter of Hector B. and Maisie Ducette Foley, she attended schools there until her family moved to Adams in 1938. She graduated from the former Adams High School in 1940 and attended William and Mary College in Virginia. Mrs. Neveu was employed by Loew's Mohawk Theater in North Adams as a clerk. She also had been employed as a clerk for the Boston & Albany Railroad at the former Adams depot and later for the Boston & Maine Railroad at the former North Adams depot. She was a communicant of the Parishes of Notre Dame-St. Thomas and St. Stanislaus. She was a member and secretary of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court Sancta Regina, and a member of the Adams Quilters. She was in charge of the china dolls, place-setting and quilters' tables for many years at the annual St. Thomas' Church bazaar. She and her husband, Bernard J. Neveu, were married Nov. 22, 1947, in St. Thomas' Church. Besides her husband, she leaves three sons, Wayne B. Neveu of Colorado Springs, Colo., Ross P. Neveu of Harrison Township, Mich., and Neal T. Neveu of Williamstown; two daughters, Michelle L. O'Brien of Adams and Paula Landry of Bloomville, Dela., and four grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Doris Foley Neveau, who died May 30, 2004, will be celebrated Thursday, June 3, at 10 in St. Thomas' Church by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Calling hours at McBRIDE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Liberty St., will be Wednesday from 4 to 8. Survivors include two sons-in-law, Thomas O'Brien and Albert Landry. Mrs. Neveu was predeceased by a sister, Nancy Torchia, on May 27, 2003.
