Lena Morandi

Lena Morandi, 88, formerly of West Road, died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. She was a lifelong resident of Alford, prior to moving to an assisted living facility in Lee, where she had lived for several years. Born in West Stockbridge on Sept. 25, 1915, daughter of Charles and Ida Dalie Morandi, she attended a one-room schoolhouse there. She was a homemaker and an active member of the Sheffield Grange for 50 years and a volunteer in many community activities. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and playing cards. In recent years, she had enjoyed pastel drawing. She was a communicant of St. Peter's Church and recently of St. Mary's Church in Lee. Her husband, Medeo Morandi, to whom she was married for 65 years, died in April 1997. She leaves three daughters, Ida Leonard of Hartsville, Judy Corbett of Great Barrington and Bonnie Perotti of East Canaan, Conn.; eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Another daughter, Mary Ann Warner, died in January 1997. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Lena Morandi, who died May 28, 2004, will be at a time to be announced. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 1, from 5 to 8 at the FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, 426 Main St., Great Barrington. Those who desire may either send flowers or make contributions in her memory to the Infusion Center in Great Barrington or to the Renal Dialysis Unit at Berkshire Medical Center through the funeral home. Remembrances, memories and reflections may be sent to the family through www.finnertyandstevens.com. Mrs. Lena Morandi was a devoted, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her most cherished times were those spent with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She leaves eight grandchildren, Randy, Lynn, Brian, Kelly, Kristen, Shannon, Marci and Keri; four great-grandchildren, Jessica, Travis, Korey and Tyler, and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves her sons-in-law Charles Perotti and Ronald Leonard. She was predeceased by her sister, Mary DelSoldato, and her brother, Jarvis Morandi.
