Paul A. Palermo

Paul A. Palermo, 74, of 109 Pixley Road died Tuesday at his daughter's home in Lee. Born in Manhattan, N.Y., on Nov. 15, 1929, son of Arthur and Pauline Bisnek Palermo, he attended local schools and graduated from high school. He moved to Monterey in 1984. Mr. Palermo was a professional painter and decorator, and a member of Painters Local 160 of the Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Valley Church in Sheffield, and enjoyed music and singing. He leaves his wife of 38 years, the former Rita Rituno; a son, Arthur J. Palermo of West Palm Beach, Fla.; four daughters, MaryAnn Torsay of New Marlboro, Josephine Palermo-Pyburne of Lee, Rita Backhaus of Monterey and Theresa Palermo Segalla of Great Barrington, and eight grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Paul A. Palermo, who died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, will be conducted Saturday, June 12, at 11 at Our Lady of the Valley Church, Sheffield, by the Rev. John S. Lis, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Great Barrington. There will be no calling hours. Expressions of sympathy in Mr. Palermo's memory may be made to Habitat for Humanity through the Unitarian Universalist Meeting of Southern Berkshire or if desired, in the presence of flowers at the funeral in care of BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. Survivors include his eight grandchildren, Julia, Elizabeth, Gabrielle, John, Samantha, Christopher, Antonio and Ashley.
