Ruth Ann Follett

Ruth Ann Follett, 69, of 192 Church St. died yesterday at home. Born in Montpelier, Vt., on Feb. 27, 1935, daughter of Richard C. and Lily Hardaker Fiddock, she grew up in Berlin, Vt., and was a 1953 graduate of Montpelier High School and a graduate of Sheldon Academy in Burlington, Vt. In 1993, she attended the Education for Ministry of the School of Theology of the University of the South. She had resided in the area since 1961 and moved to North Adams in 1996. Mrs. Follett was on disability leave from Wal-Mart, where she had been employed for six years. She was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church and served as a Eucharistic lay visitor. She was a founding member of Mary Mother of Jesus chapter of the Daughters of the King and a member of the International Order of St. Luke the Physician. She was an accomplished organist and pianist and a former hospice volunteer. She and her husband, Roger C. Follett, were married June 2, 1955. Besides her husband, she leaves four sons, Michael Follett of North Adams, Lawrence Follett of Phoenix, Christopher Follett of Scappoose, Ore., and Frank Follett of Ashley Falls; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Memorial Service for Ruth Ann Follett will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church at a date and time to be announced. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be at a later date in Berlin, Vt. The family requests the omission of flowers and suggests that those who wish may make memorial donations to the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire Inc. through AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247, which is in charge of arrangements.
