Albert P. Ranzoni Jr

Albert P. Ranzoni Jr., 63, of West Road died Saturday at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington after a long illness. Born in Alford at the family home on West Road on Jan. 19, 1941, son of Albert P. Ranzoni Sr. and Evelyn Rose Castell Ranzoni, he was a 1958 graduate of Mount Everett High School, now Mount Everett Regional School. He also graduated from Massachusetts Radio and Electronics School in Boston. In 1961, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served in Okinawa. He earned the rank of sergeant and was discharged in 1965. Mr. Ranzoni was employed by Becton Dickinson & Co. in Canaan, Conn., as a moldmaker, retiring in 1998 with 29 years of service. He then worked part time as a machinist at Oraceutical in Lee, retiring in 2003. A sports enthusiast and a Red Sox fan, he also enjoyed stock car racing, working outdoors and gardening. He and his wife, the former Gail Ellen Blakeney, were married June 20, 1964, at St. James' Episcopal Church in Great Barrington. Besides his wife and parents, of Alford, he leaves three daughters, Angela Ranzoni of Oakland, Calif., Ginni Sheridan of Monterey and Robyn Hoy of Housatonic; a brother, James Ranzoni of Alford, and two grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Albert P. Ranzoni Jr., 63, of Alford died Saturday, June 19, 2004. Albert was a family man and cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, Evan Sheridan and Makayla Hoy. He also leaves his beloved dog, Sandy. A public visitation and viewing will be Tuesday, June 22, from 4 to 7 at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Thursday, June 24, at 1 at the funeral home conducted by the Rev. Arthur Kaufman, pastor of Old Parish Church in Sheffield. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Alford Fire Department or the Southern Berkshire Volunteer Ambulance Squad through the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
