Laurent F. Simard

Laurent F. Simard, 90, formerly of 23 1/2 Murray St., died Thursday at the VA Medical Center in Albany, N.Y. Born in Adams on July 1, 1913, son of Samuel and Marie Lemoine Simard [Seymour], he attended North Adams Schools. He moved to Delmar, N.Y., 3 1/2 years ago to reside with his son, Lawrence Simard. A Navy veteran of World War II, he served in the Pacific theater. Mr. Simard was employed by the former Arnold Print Works for many years, retiring July 1, 1981. Before that, he was an Adams police officer and had worked for several years at GE in Pittsfield. He was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas, and an avid hunter and fisherman. His wife, the former Stella Kozlowski, whom he married Aug. 25, 1934, died Nov. 19, 1997. Besides his son, he leaves a brother, Raymond Seymour of North Adams, three grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Laurent F. Simard, who died June 17, 2004, will be celebrated Monday, June 21, at 10:30 in St. Stanislaus' Church by the Rev. Daniel J. O'Hear, pastor of St. Anthony's Church in North Adams. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus' Cemetery. Calling hours at TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., will be from 9 until the time of the funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Parishes of Notre Dame-St. Thomas and St. Stanislaus through the funeral home. Survivors include three grandchildren, Christopher Simard, Laurie Simard and Jay Simard; a niece, Nancy Levesque Roy of Adams, and a nephew, Walter Levesque of Adams and several others who reside outside the area.
