Joseph Matthew Sadlow

Joseph Matthew Sadlow, 70, of 1 Godek St., a longtime Adams businessman, died late Wednesday evening at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, where he was admitted earlier in the day after suffering a brain hemorrhage. He was a longtime summer resident of Windsor Pond. Born in Adams on May 5, 1934, son of Joseph H. and Josephine M. Podziak Sadlow, he lived in Savoy as a child and attended schools there. He moved to Adams in 1956. He served in the Army from 1956 to 1958. Mr. Sadlow owned and operated Sadlow Auto Body & Glass from 1960 until his death. The shop was first located on Linden Street, then Dean Street, and, finally, on East Maple Street. He was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas and a member of the Adams Lodge of Elks and the Mountain Club. He was also past president, vice president and director of Turn Hall. He enjoyed traveling and spending time at his summer camp. He and his wife, the former Dorene A. Bush, were married Sept. 3, 1956. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Kevin Sadlow of Crystal River, Fla., and David Sadlow of North Adams; a daughter, Linda Sadlow of Adams; two brothers, John Sadlow of Adams and James Sadlow of Savoy; two sisters, Patricia Guiel of Ludlow and Jeannette Persons of Whispering Pines, N.C., and seven grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Joseph Matthew Sadlow, 70, will be Monday, July 12, at 9 from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church, Adams, celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Parishes of Notre Dame and St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Stanislaus Kostka, Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Diabetes Association through the funeral home. Mr. Sadlow also leaves a daughter-in-law, Joan Sadlow of North Adams; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Sadlow of Adams and Margaret Sadlow of Savoy; two brothers-in-law, John Guiel of Ludlow and Ronald Persons of Whispering Pines, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Kevin Sadlow Jr., Andrea, Matthew, Heather and Kassandra Sadlow and Audrey and Erica Vasquez; an uncle, Albert Sadlo; an aunt, Ethel Kocieko; two cousins, Mary Ann and Thomas Kocieko, and several nieces and nephews.
