Robert John Galvin Sr., 83, of East Road died Friday at Timberlyn Heights Nursing and Alzheimer's Center in Great Barrington after a long illness. Born in Hempstead, N.Y., on April 6, 1921, son of Thomas and Mabel Galvin, he attended the University of Illinois, Dayton University and Notre Dame University. He served in the Navy during World War II. Mr. Galvin was employed by NBC, beginning as a technician in 1946. He worked in various positions and on television shows, retiring in 1992 as vice president for network television technical operations. He built a vacation home Alford in 1971 and lived there full time after his retirement. He was an avid boater, photographer and craftsman. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Robert J. Galvin, who died July 23, 2004, was predeceased by two children, Catherine and James. He is survived by his sons, Michael and Robert Jr., his daughters, Martha, Mary and Christine, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He will be in our memories forever.
