April Mae French

April Mae French, 49, of Yale Court died early yesterday morning at home after a brief illness. Born in Pittsfield on July 15, 1955, daughter of Clayton and Anna Mae Donovan Gile, she was a 1973 graduate of Lee High School. She received an associate's degree from Berkshire Community College and a bachelor's degree from Burlington (Vt.) College. Mrs. French had been teaching computer applications at Mildred Elley Business School in Pittsfield since 2001. Previously, she had worked at GE Plastics and the Molari Employment and Healthcare Services. An ordained minister of metaphysics, she was working toward setting up a holistic healing practice. She was a member of the Toastmasters International Club and had been a counselor at the Elizabeth Freeman Center in Pittsfield. She and her husband, William French, were married June 2, 1973, in Stockbridge. Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Christina Lynn French of Olympia, Wash., a son, Randy French of Troy, N.Y., and a brother, Richard "Rick" Gile of Pittsfield. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for April Mae French of Stockbridge, who died July 28, 2004, will be conducted Sunday, Aug. 1, at 2 at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, Great Barrington, by the Rev. Alan Macy. The family will receive friends Saturday, July 31, from 3 to 7 at the funeral home. April is survived by her husband, William French, whom she married June 2, 1973, in Stockbridge, along with their two children, Christina Lynn French of Olympia, Wash., who was a graduate of Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn., and is working in Washington as a physical therapist, and Randy French and his wife, Danielle, of Troy, N.Y., who is working for the Troy Police Department. She also leaves her brother, Rick Gile of Pittsfield, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Carol Ann Gile.
