Alexander John Les

Alexander John Les, 83, of 539 Savoy Road died Tuesday evening at North Adams Regional Hospital shortly after being admitted. Born in Cheshire on Feb. 22, 1921, son of Mateusz and Zofia Kolis Les, he attended the former Pumpkin Hook Elementary School and also schools in Adams. Mr. Les was employed by the Adams-Cheshire Regional School District as a custodian at Hoosac Valley High School, retiring in 1986. He also had owned and operated a dairy farm for many years and delivered milk for the former Menty's Dairy in Adams. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. He enjoyed the outdoors and hiking, and doing light carpentry and repair work. An avid bowler, he was a member of the former Adams Bowling League. He was an avid fan of the Red Sox and Patriots. He and his wife, the former June K. Morey, were married Nov. 25, 1950. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Ronald M. Les of Cheshire; a daughter, Kathleen M. LeClair of North Adams; a brother, Edwin P. Les of Mount Desert Island, Maine, and two granddaughters. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Alexander J. Les, who died July 27, 2004, will be Friday at 10 from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire, by the Rev. David Raymond, pastor. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours will be today, July 29, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Eileen Barrett Foundation or to the Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home. He leaves his daughter-in-law, Sylvia Les; son-in-law, John A. LeClair Jr., and two granddaughters with whom he especially enjoyed spending time, Amanda J. Les of Cheshire and Kelsey M. LeClair. He was predeceased by two sisters, Helen Coope and Julia Steuer, and three brothers, Chester, Joseph and Adolph Les.
