Marjory Ethel St. John

Marjory Ethel St. John, 82, of 102 Orchard St. died Monday at Baypath of Duxbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Duxbury. Born in Hyde Park on July 29, 1922, daughter of Thomas and Ida May Hawes Aykroyd, she was a 1939 graduate of Hyde Park High School. She later graduated from Boston University with a degree in business and accounting. She moved to Adams in the 1950s. Mrs. St. John was secretary for her late husband, attorney, town counsel and state lawmaker Edmund R. St. John Jr., from 1960 to 2000. She was a communicant of St. Thomas' Church for many years and later of St. Mary's Church in Cheshire. She had been a Cub Scout den mother and enjoyed knitting, crafts and sewing. Her husband, whom she married Sept. 3, 1949, died March 4. She leaves three sons, Edmund R. St. John III of Cheshire, Dennis L. St. John of Shaftsbury, Vt., and Mark A. St. John of Weymouth; two daughters, Elena M. Schaetzl of Pembroke and Marjory E. St. John of Oakland, Calif.; a brother, Elton Aykroyd of California, and eight grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Marjory St. John, who died Aug. 9, 2004, will be held tomorrow, Aug. 12, at 2 at AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Edmund R. St. John Jr. Scholarship Fund through the funeral home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, MA 01220. She leaves two daughters-in-law, Pamela St. John and Maureen St. John; a son-in-law, William Schaetzl, and eight grandchildren, Edmund R. St. John IV of Cheshire, Andrew St. John, Aaron St. John and Christianna St. John, all of Bennington, Vt., William Schaetzl and Robert Schaetzl, both of Pembroke, and Kellye St. John and Kara St. John, both of Weymouth. She also leaves a special friend, Elena Marini of Canton.
