Edward Douglas "Ted" Marcus

Edward Douglas "Ted" Marcus, 86, of 2724 Ledo Road, Albany, Ga., a former Great Barrington resident, died Friday at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. Born in Springfield on Aug. 17, 1918, son of William D. and Mary E. Marcus, he attended schools there. He moved to Albany in 1974. An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he held the rank of first lieutenant. Mr. Marcus had been employed by Walter and Kirkland Realtors. He also worked as a manager for the MacGregor Golf Manufacturing Co. He was a member of Providence Church in Albany, and the Albany Rotary and Doublegate Country clubs. He leaves his wife, the former Lillian McGinnis; two sons, Dana Edward Marcus of Egremont and Scott William Marcus of Albany; a daughter, Susan Spadaccini of Great Barrington; two stepsons, Neil Erik McGinnis of Monterey and James John McGinnis of Atlanta; two stepdaughters, Patricia Joan Bateman of Leesburg, Ga., and Nancy Dahl Dozier of Macon, Ga.; 15 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Edward D. Marcus, who died Sept. 17, 2004, will be conducted Monday at 11 at Providence Church by Pastor Thomas Hale. A private interment service will be held Tuesday at Andersonville National Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to Providence Church, 2504 Archwood Drive, Albany, GA 31707.
