Gertrude Albina Bressett

Gertrude Albina Bressett, 85, of 45 Millard Ave. died Saturday at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Adams on May 15, 1919, daughter of Elphege and Rose Marie Cyr Adam, she attended schools in Adams and North Adams, and graduated from Drury High School in North Adams. Mrs. Bressett was the office manager for the former Barber Leather Co. in North Adams, retiring in the 1980s. She also had been employed as a secretary and bookkeeper by the former Feder Furniture Co., also in North Adams. She was a communicant of Notre Dame Church and later of St. Anthony's Church, both in North Adams. A candlepin bowler, she was a former member of the Valley Park Bowling League in North Adams. She enjoyed boating and swimming at the family cottage at Windsor Pond (Duke's Pond) in Windsor. She also enjoyed watching harness and horse racing at Saratoga Race Course in New York. Her husband, Glenn Francis Bressett, whom she married Aug. 28, 1943, died June 10, 1993. She leaves a son, Alan Francis Bressett of Clarksburg, with whom she resided; a sister, Helena Chalifoux of North Adams, and a granddaughter. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Gertrude Albina Adam Bressett, who died Oct. 2, 2004, will be celebrated Friday at 10 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, North Adams. Burial will follow in the family plot in Clarksburg Cemetery. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, will be Friday from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Memorial donations are suggested for the American Cancer Society through the funeral home. Survivors include a granddaughter, Tanya Rotolo. She was predeceased by a sister, Roma Johnson, in 1999.
