Charles Leon Bliven Sr

Charles Leon Bliven Sr., 70, of 32 Martha St., Seymour, Conn., formerly of Otis, died Friday at home. Born in Otis on May 8, 1934, son of Raymond F. and Irene Door-hamer Blivenhe graduated from a local high school. He moved to Connecticut in the early 1960s. A Marine veteran, he was stationed in Japan during the Korean War. Mr. Bliven was employed by American Wire of Newtown, Conn., retiring in 1998. He also had been employed by Hudson Wire in Winsted, Conn., until it closed in 1977, then by Seymour (Conn.) Specialty Wire Co. until it also closed. He leaves a daughter, Anita Del Mar of Sheffield; two sons, Joseph P. Bliven of Westfield and Bruce Bliven of Holyoke; four sisters, June Crandalland Martha Crandall, both of Otis, Joan Brown of the state of Florida and Geraldine Spade of Atlanta; two brothers, Raymond Bliven of Otis and Francis Bliven of the state of Florida; seven grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. He also leaves his former wife, Jessie Ball Bliven of Lee. He was predeceased by two sons, Charles L. Bliven Jr. in 1970 and Peter Bliven in 1989. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A graveside service for Charles Leon Bliven, who died Oct. 1, 2004, will be held Saturday, Oct. 9, at 2 in Otis Cemetery. A gathering for remembrance with family and friends will immediately follow at Otis Congregational Church. Mr. Bliven is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
