Rita Y. Mooney, 74
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Rita Yvonne Mooney, 74, of 23 Wells Ave., died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, at home following a long illness.
Born in North Adams on Jan. 13, 1930, daughter of Fardina and Yvonne Babeu, she attended the former Notre Dame School and was a lifelong resident of North Adams.
Ms. Mooney was last employed as a nurse's aide at the former Willowood Nursing Home in North Adams for three years, until her retirement in 1989. Earlier she was employed as a nurse's aide at several area nursing homes and North Adams Regional Hospital.
She was a communicant of Notre Dame du Sacre Coeur Church in North Adams.
She leaves two daughters, Charlene Pasierbiak and her husband, Carl, of Plymouth and Donna Whitley and her husband, Michael, of Key West, Fla.; a sister, Yvonne McHaffie and her husband, John, of North Adams; her longtime companion, Philip R. Babeu of North Adams; two grandchildren, Maylie Grubba and Chelsea Caffrey, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Ms. Mooney will be celebrated on Wednesday, Oct. 13, at noon in St. Francis of Assisi Church in North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery in North Adams.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 10 until the time of the services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her memory be made to the Oncology Unit at North Adams Regional Hospital or to the VNA and Hospice of Northern Berkshire Inc., in care of AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 46 North Church St., North Adams 01247.
